The coolest people you’ve never heard of have all gotten cancelled. Visionaries, iconoclasts, organizers on the cusp of something extraordinary, who got shot out of the sky the very moment they took flight. 

It can happen to anyone. But I can’t tell you the number of cancellation stories I’ve heard about people whose cardinal sin was standing out from the crowd.

Because, leftist subcultures don’t like rule breakers. This is true despite a surface-level commitment to disobedience and nonconformity in theory. In practice, subcultural leftists are some of the most rule-following, status-obsessed hyper-conformists you’re ever going to meet, and as a result we eat our own. We ruthlessly cannibalize anyone with the potential to stand out, and my god.
